Tom joined Encompass Health in September 2019 as CEO of Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital and has transitioned to Florida to open the St. Augustine hospital. Tom previously held a variety of healthcare roles which included clinical analyst, director of quality and director of imaging and rehabilitation services. A licensed physical therapist with 20 years of leadership experience, Tom earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and his master’s degree in physical therapy from Kansas University Medical Center.

Dr. Mira Zelin, DO, is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. She has been practicing for more than 17 years since graduating from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology.

Chris joined Encompass Health as controller in November 2021. He has held key financial leadership positions at a variety of acute care regional health systems throughout Florida, including system budget director, vice president of budget and financial planning, and chief financial advisor. He began his career with Ernst & Young as an auditor specializing in healthcare. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Louis University.

Wayne has been a member of the Encompass Health team since January of 2017, serving as the facilities management director for Encompass Health RIT in Tucson Arizona, Encompass Health Desert Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada and now here at Encompass Health of St. Augustine. In 1993, he received an honorable discharge from the Navy and began a career in healthcare plant facility operations with Baptist Medical Center. Wayne is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and Florida Healthcare Engineers Association (FHEA).

Edie has more than 25 years of human resources experience, with the majority of her years working in healthcare. Edie brings a broad range of experience to her new role, including employment, benefits, payroll, compensation and employee relations.

Debra joined Encompass Health in 2016 and has held healthcare leadership positions for more than 30 years in both acute care hospitals and in public sector environments. She is a registered nurse, Certified Case Manager and Certified Professional in healthcare quality. She earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare leadership from National Louis University.

Brittney has a variety of quality and risk experience in various healthcare settings, from multi-specialty offices to acute care. She has worked in numerous roles including performance improvement, risk, and accreditation, and she is certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt from American Society of Quality. She earned her master’s degree in business administration and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

Meg served as director of therapy operations at Encompass Health of Kingsport for five years before joining the St. Augustine team. Prior to joining Encompass Health, she served in therapy leadership roles in both acute care and home health settings. She is a licensed physical therapist who earned a master’s degree in physical therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and completed her doctoral work at Shenandoah University in Virginia.

Dr. Carolyn Piazza came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of St. Augustine from more than 15 years of acute care practice, which focused on emergency medicine, critical care and pharmacy operations management. Carolyn earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at the University of Florida and is a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist. She has developed medication reconciliation program and educated pharmacy technicians to conduct patient interviews helping to clarify patients home medications. Her goal as a clinical pharmacist is to promote the safe use of medications as she cares for her patients. Carolyn is passionate about serving her community of St. Augustine where she has resided for the past 30 years.

Melissa joined Encompass Health in 2021. She is a passionate patient advocate with more than 27 years of healthcare and marketing experience. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Mercer University.

Brad joined Encompass Health in 2023 as an accomplished nurse leader with a passion for patient- centered care and authentic servant leadership. He is a registered nurse with a background in acute care, emergency services and trauma, education and a variety of leadership roles overseeing ED, ICU, respiratory therapy, wound care and diabetes education. Brad is a Certified Emergency Nurse, holds a master’s degree in healthcare informatics from Walden University and completed his doctorate in healthcare leadership at Jacksonville University.
