At St. John Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and serving the greater Tulsa area, our inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides inpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

*The hospital provides access to independent physicians.

Chief Executive Officer

David has served as chief executive officer of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2015.

David has served as chief executive officer of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2015. David first joined Encompass Health in 2001 as a registered nurse. He has spent the majority of his healthcare career within the rehabilitation and hospice settings. David has held various leadership positions within Encompass Health, including associate administrator of Encompass Health in Jonesboro, Ark. and chief nursing officer of Encompass Health in Midland, Texas. A graduate of Angelo State University, David completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in nursing. David’s focus is to continuously improve the hospital’s performance to exceed the expectations of patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.

MELISSA FRANDSEN, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Melissa Frandsen graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with bachelor’s degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering.

Dr. Melissa Frandsen, a Tulsa native, graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with bachelor’s degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering. She went on to pursue a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. She attended medical school at Rush University in Chicago and returned to Tulsa to finish her internal \mMedicine degree through OU Tulsa. Dr. Frandsen earned her degree in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation back at Rush University. She is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as brain injury medicine.

DOYLE CADE

Facilities Management Director

Doyle is a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native.

Doyle is a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native. After graduating from Broken Arrow high school, and attending Northeastern State University and trade school, Doyle obtained his State Mechanical License in 1990. Doyle spent more than 25 years with a mechanical construction company, serving as field supervisor and safety coordinator. He also received OSHA certification in occupational safety and health training in general industry safety and health. Doyle joined the Encompass Health team in June 2018 as a senior maintenance tech, before being promoted to maintenance supervisor. In 2021, Doyle was promoted to facilities management director where he happily still serves.

Director of Therapy Operations

Beth has been with Encompass Health since October 2015.

Beth has been with Encompass Health since October 2015. Beth has worked in many therapy settings including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, ICU/critical care, outpatient, and private practice. Beth has a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy and a Master of Science in management. She has taught numerous therapy classes and presented at the state level on numerous therapy topics, including neuro developmental treatment, spinal cord injury, and functional integration in therapy interventions. Beth was awarded the Occupational Therapist of the Year in 2012 from the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Association. Beth is driven to help rehabilitation patients achieve exceptional outcomes.

Chief Nursing Officer

Susan has served as chief nursing officer of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2016.

Susan has served as chief nursing officer of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2016. She was previously the nurse manager for Bernsen Rehabilitation Center at St. John Medical Center for the last eleven years. Susan has spent most her sixteen-year nursing career in the rehabilitation setting. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN), and has her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Western Governors University. Susan is looking forward to continuing to serve the Tulsa and surrounding area patient population in the rehabilitation setting by providing quality patient care with excellent patient outcomes.

Cindy serves as the director of pharmacy and joined the team in June 2018.

Cindy serves as the director of pharmacy and joined the team in June 2018. She is a graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy with her bachelor's degree in pharmacy and her Doctorate of Pharmacy. She also earned her master's degree in business administration from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Cindy has more than 20 years of pharmacy practice experience varying among community, home infusion, acute care, critical access, long-term acute care and rehabilitation. Cindy is very passionate about her profession and strives for excellent patient outcomes through safe medication management.

Tiffany has served as the director of case management of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since February 2016.

Tiffany has served as the director of case management of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since February 2016. Tiffany joined us from St John Health System. Tiffany received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wichita State University in 1990. Tiffany has her certification in case management and has worked in the profession of case management for 20 years. Tiffany has been very involved with CMSA and has held various board positions over the years.

Rebekah has been chief financial officer with Encompass Health since August 2012.

Rebekah has been chief financial officer with Encompass Health since August 2012, starting at the Fort Smith, Ark hospital and transferring to St. John Rehabilitation Hospital in May 2016. Rebekah has 18 years of healthcare accounting experience varying between acute in-patient, home health, hospice, the State Advantage Wavier program and rehabilitation. A graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, she has completed her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in accounting. Rebekah continually strives to work closely with the chief executive officer in improving the hospital’s performance and support the leadership team with the information they need to successfully complete their job.

Samantha serves as the business development director for St. John Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health. She joined the team in November of 2019, previously serving with the Encompass Health – Home Health division for over 6 years, where she showed fast growth in position, responsibility, and results. Samantha served as a division manager prior to transferring to St. John Rehabilitation. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas. Sam has a heart for therapy and believes in advocating for excellent patient care. She is passionate about helping those on her team live successful and fulfilled lives, while exceeding both their personal and professional goals.

Susie has served as the director of quality and risk of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2018.

Susie has served as the director of quality and risk of St. John Rehabilitation Hospital since August 2018. She has been in the allied healthcare rehabilitation environment for more than 35 years serving as a clinician, manager, director, CARF surveyor, regional director, consultant, marketer and small business owner. Susie is a Tulsa native who attended the University of Oklahoma and earned her bachelor's degree in communications in 1984 and a master's degree in communication disorders-speech language pathology in 1986. She has always been involved in the community and helping to promote the industry. Susie has participated in the brain injury association of Oklahoma, case management society of America - Oklahoma chapter, hospital focus groups, EOMGMA, good samaritan fundraiser and pug rescue of Tulsa County.
