Chief Executive Officer
Todd Wallace first joined Encompass Health in December 2003 as a physical therapist at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana. Todd has served in a number of clinical leadership roles at Encompass Health, most recently as the CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Abilene. Accomplishments with Encompass Health include leading in its achievement of The Joint Commission certification as a disease-specific care facility for strokes, hip fractures and amputees at Encompass Health Texarkana and assisting with recertification in several of the disease-specific certification programs thereafter. Todd has served as the Southwest Regional STOP Team Champion which promotes safe mobility of patients and also played a significant role in implementing an annual community stroke continuing education program. Additionally, he co-created the hospital’s leadership DRIVE series, which is a five-part training series designed to recognize and develop leadership talent already present in the hospital. Todd’s passion is developing and growing vibrant leadership teams with a mission and heart for patient success. Prior to his time with Encompass Health, Todd worked as a physical therapist for rehabilitation at home and CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Texarkana. Todd attended Southern Arkansas University and completed his master’s degree in physical therapy at the University of Central Arkansas.
Medical Director
Dr. Wren has been affiliated with Encompass Health Texarkana since 1996. He served as the hospital’s associate medical director for four years prior to becoming the medical director. Dr. Wren completed undergraduate studies at Centenary College, followed by doctor of medicine and masters in public health at Tulane University Schools of Medicine and Public Health. He completed externships at Mayo Clinic and University of Colorado. Dr. Wren completed an internship in internal medicine and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and is a board-certified physiatrist.
Dr. Wren is an independent private practice physician.
Human Resources Director
Christina joined Encompass Health Texarkana as the human resources director in November 2021. She earned almost 13 years of human resources experience while working for a federal agency, moving throughout Alaska, Kentucky and Texas with the U.S. Army. Christina holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and a master’s of science degree from Texas A & M – Texarkana. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, and she has served the Texarkana community as a volunteer in various school districts and social organizations.
Director of Case Management
Elizabeth brings over 25 years of professional nursing experience with a diverse background in healthcare to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana. An Arkansas native, she moved her family to Texas in 2019. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Texarkana College and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas A&M University.
Controller
Matt joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana in November 2021. He spent the past five years in an acute care hospital setting following five years in public accounting. He holds an active certified public accounting license. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Director of Therapy Operations
Laura Jenkins began her career with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana in December 1993 as a speech language pathologist. She served as speech pathology team lead beginning in 1997 before becoming director of therapy operations in May 2021. She holds a bachelor's degree in communication science and disorders from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in communication science and disorders from The University of Texas at Dallas for communication disorders. She has experience in acute care, rehabilitation, home health and long term/skilled care. She is certified in deep pharyngeal neuromuscular stimulation, vital stim and Lee Silverman voice therapy. She serves as champion for our disease specific care stroke team. Laura is a strong patient advocate and is focused on relationship and team building.
Facilities Management Director
James joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana in July 2022 and has more than 20 years of experience in facilities maintenance and plant operations. He is a lifetime resident of northeast Texas and has served the last 18 years in an acute hospital where he gained extensive knowledge of daily operations in a healthcare setting. His duties include regulatory compliance for TJC, CMS and OSHA as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance, EVS and dietary departments in addition to being security liaison. He is a member of ASHE, AHA, TAHFM and NFPA and is currently studying to achieve his CHFM credentials. He strives to maintain a safe and positive environment for all patients, visitors and staff during their time spent at the hospital.
Director of Pharmacy
LaSandra joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana in July 2014 as Director of Pharmacy. She received her bachelor of science in pharmacy from Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and her doctorate of pharmacy from University of Colorado Denver School of Pharmacy. LaSandra brings with her a variety of pharmacy practice experiences in both retail pharmacy and acute care hospital practices, including working alongside a team of health care professionals to coordinate individualized patient care plans.
Hospital HIPAA Officer
Alisha Smith has been employed at Encompass Health since 2008. She graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, AR with a bachelor’s degree in health information management. She holds certifications as a registered health information administrator, and she is certified in healthcare privacy and security with the American Health Information Management Association. She is dedicated to a culture of excellence, professionalism and continuing to be a resource in all areas of health information management. Alisha also serves as the Southwest region’s HIMS director.
Director of Quality & Risk
Paige brings over 10 years of nursing expertise to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana. She began her career with Encompass Health as a registered nurse in 2015. Paige is a local graduate from Texarkana College’s associate degree nursing program. Paige has dedicated herself to the rehabilitation nursing profession by obtaining qualifications as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). Paige earned her bachelor's degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing and is committed to assuring excellence in care and patient satisfaction as director of quality and risk.
