Encompass Health of Toms River partners with Bikur Cholim of Lakewood to open kosher food pantry

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River has partnered with Bikur Cholim of Lakewood to open an in-hospital kosher pantry, including kosher meals, snacks, and prayer service items, to serve the ongoing needs of patients. In partnership with local Jewish faith organizations, Encompass Health of Toms River offers trainings to educate staff on the unique elements of the Jewish faith and shared advice for being culturally welcoming and sensitive to patients’ needs and preferences.
Josette Myers named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River

Josette Myers has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River. In her position as CEO, Myers oversees all day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 98-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 14 Hospital Drive. She assumed the position in July 2022.
Encompass Health of Toms River completes construction, adds new services

Encompass Health of Toms River is excited to announce it recently completed a four year construction project to modernize the hospital and add new services and more private rooms. The 98-bed acute care inpatient rehabilitation hospital now includes 64 private rooms with private restrooms and 17 semi-private rooms.

Jessica Finnegan, hospital educator and board certified specialist in neurological physical therapy, presented on a webinar for nursing staff at a local acute care system. The topic was “Preventing Post Stroke Complications and Preparing for Effective Rehabilitation."

This is a video tour of our newly reconstructed hospital. It took four years to complete—we remained fully operational during the entire construction period—but it was well worth the wait! To debut the new construction to the community, we are hosting mini tours and grab–and-go snack/lunch, and all are welcome.

John was transferred to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River to begin his rehabilitation journey on March 26. “I couldn’t lift my hands off the bed,” he said. “I felt 80% paralyzed, and prior to Covid-19, I was 100% functional.” John thought he’d never walk again, but he remained grateful to be alive and dedicated to getting a little better every day.

During National Patient Safety Awareness Week, our patients had the chance to spin a “Wheel of Safety” to answer safety related trivia questions and earn points toward their Battle of the Board team, another patient competition that ran all week.

A patient’s perceived safety begins with comfort in their surroundings and expectations. Staff members visited a mock patient room during the scheduled times to orient our newest “patient” on what to expect during their stay.
