Area Chief Executive Officer
Vivian joined Encompass Health in April, 2019. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing in Minnesota. Over the last decade Vivian has provided leadership for a healthcare services company by serving roles such as CEO and division vice president; regional senior director of sales and marketing. Her management provide support to clinical and administrative efforts, while maintaining positive customer relations, and her motivation comes from working with a dynamic team who is dedicated to providing an exceptional patient experience. In February 2022 Vivian was promoted to area CEO for the Richmond and Petersburg Encompass Health hospitals.
Medical Director
Dr. Royer joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital as faculty in July 2016 and assumed the role of medical director in July 2023.
Dr. Royer joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital as faculty in July 2016 and assumed the role of medical director in July 2023. She earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and applied physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University. Prior to attending medical school, she worked at the National Cancer Institute in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics. She went on to earn her medical degree in 2012 as well as complete her internship and residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Virginia in 2016.
Dr. Royer is an independent private practice physician.
Facilities Management Director
Mark joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in April 2018 as the facilities management director. Mark brings more than 33 years of experience in healthcare facilities to Encompass Health. With his years of experience in healthcare, Mark believes in and has a strong commitment to patient safety. He is also service-minded and believes that providing a clean and safe environment is conducive to patient care and the healing process of your loved one.
Director of Therapy Operations
Beth joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in August 2016. She earned her bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University and her master's degree in business administration from East Carolina University. She has more than 24 years of experience in rehabilitation. Beth’s first role at Encompass Health was as a PRN occupational therapist. She transitioned to a patient assessment systems coordinator in 2017 and then transitioned to a therapy manager in 2019. She joined the leadership team as the director of therapy operations in August 2022.
Director of Pharmacy
John Huffman joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in 2004 assuming the role of pharmacy director. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Bridgewater College and a master’s degree in biomedical science from Marshall University. Prior to attending pharmacy school, he worked in the areas of yeast and human genetics. He went on to earn his PharmD from VCU School of Pharmacy in 1999. Currently he chairs the pharmacy & therapeutics, antimicrobial and opioid stewardship committees. Dr. Huffman also contributes to various committees including falls, infection control, acute care transfer and environment of care. He is also a preceptor for the VCU School of Pharmacy. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and playing in a band.
Director of Case Management
Ashley joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in December 2012. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from James Madison University and her master’s degree of social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ashley has more than 15 years of experience in healthcare with 13 years in rehabilitation and is a licensed clinical social worker as well as a Certified Case Manager. Her first role at Encompass Health was as a case manager. Ashley was promoted to the director of case management role in 2022.
Controller
Jennifer is a graduate of Longwood University where she earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and minor in economics. She started her career with Encompass Health in 2004 as an administrative assistant. Soon thereafter, she was promoted to accountant. In 2014, she took on the role as controller for the Richmond location. She transitioned to controller of UVA Encompass Health in 2021.
Director of Quality & Risk Management
Edward joined UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in July 2023. He earned his clinical training and master's degree in health services administration from Loma Linda University and California State University. He has more than 14 years serving in healthcare in various healthcare service settings. He joined the leadership team as director of quality and risk management and medical staff credentialing services.
