PORTLAND, Maine, Jan. 20, 2023- Nab Kundu has been appointed as chief executive officer of New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, a joint venture of Maine Medical Center and Encompass Health. In his position as CEO, Kundu oversees the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the 90-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 335 Brighton Avenue, Unit 201. He assumed the position in November.

“Nab brings over two decades of leadership experience to his new role as CEO of New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland,” said Pat Tuer, president of Encompass Health’s northeast region. “He has proven success in changing the cultures of hospitals for greater patient satisfaction, and I am confident in his vision for the hospital and excited to welcome him to the Portland community.”

Prior to joining Encompass Health, Kundu served as director of development at Nobis Rehab Partners, where he opened the first hospital within the company. From 2020 to 2022, Kundu served as chief executive officer of Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital in Dublin, Ohio. During his time in this role, he built an entire executive team that passed Medicare certification.

Kundu earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Kent State University and his master’s in business administration, with a concentration in health care, from Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio.
