TOMS RIVER, N.J., Sept. 20, 2023 – Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River recently achieved Disease-Specific Care Certification for its Parkinson’s Disease rehabilitation program from The Joint Commission. The Gold Seal of Approval^® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

The inpatient rehabilitation hospital underwent a rigorous survey for certification of this rehabilitation program. During the review, a Joint Commission expert surveyor evaluated compliance with disease certification standards. The surveyor also conducted virtual observations and interviews.

The Joint Commission’s hospital standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. More than 4,000 general, children’s, long-term acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation and specialty hospitals currently maintain accreditation from The Joint Commission.

Encompass Health of Toms River now holds seven certifications for Disease-Specific Care from The Joint Commission including: stroke, cardiac, pulmonary, wound care, advanced inpatient diabetes, brain injury and Parkinson’s Disease rehabilitation. With at least three hours of comprehensive therapy for five days each week and around-the-clock nursing care, teams of expert clinicians combine customized treatment plans with advanced technologies to help train patients for everyday tasks.
