Gina Tipton named CEO of Rehabilitation Hospital of Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga., March 29, 2024 - Gina Tipton has been appointed as chief executive officer of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Atlanta. The 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is under construction at 1968 Peachtree Road NW in Atlanta as a hospital-in-hospital concept inside Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. The rehabilitation hospital is expected to begin caring for patients in May 2024.

Tipton will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Atlanta rehabilitation hospital, as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care along with physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries, including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and complex orthopedic conditions.

“As a registered nurse, Gina brings a wealth of clinical and leadership experience to her new role of CEO,” said Ronnie Wagley, president of Encompass Health’s South Atlantic region. “Gina has demonstrated commitment to improving patient experience, and I am confident in her vision for the hospital and excited to see the hospital flourish under her leadership.”

Tipton brings 15 years of leadership experience in various healthcare settings to her new role of CEO. She most recently served as chief administrator officer at Navicent Rehabilitation Hospital in Macon, Georgia. In this role, Tipton oversaw the 58-bed hospital and increased the hospital’s overall efficiency during her time with the company.

“Gina has proven throughout her career to be a good steward of resources and has a strong record of positioning her teams to provide high-quality, patient-centered care,” said Patrick M. Battey, M.D., chief executive officer of Piedmont Atlanta. “I look forward to her partnership on the new rehabilitation hospital on our campus. These expanded services on-site at Piedmont Atlanta will be a great asset to our patients who need to continue their rehabilitation care.”

Tipton obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s degree in business administration, both from Western Governor’s University in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is an active board member of the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves as Post-Acute and Rehabilitation Council Chair of the Georgia Hospital Association.
