Chief Executive Officer
Matt brings more than 15 years of healthcare leadership experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia. He has previously served in several CEO roles of long term acute care hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, Kansas City, Missouri, and Nashville, Tennessee. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern Methodist University and holds three master's degrees in health administration, business administration and healthcare Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Medical Director
Dr. Samdani was appointed as medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia in 2011 and opened a private practice at the same location. His philosophy of service to the patient along with the support of a great rehabilitation team creates excellence in both patient care and outcomes. In 2005, Dr. Samdani started working as medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation facility at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Samdani is a board certified physiatrist. He graduated from Kurnool Medical College, India, in 1988 in the top ten of his class. Dr. Samdani has completed a general surgery residence and received a master's degree in surgery. He moved to the United States in 1998 and worked as a house staff (PGY-1) in Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He enrolled in the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the SUNY at Stony Brook University in New York. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Society of State of New York and Richmond Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Samdani is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Case Management
Stephany joined Encompass Health as a case manager in December of 2019. Stephany’s clinical background includes a master's degree in nursing and business administration from Western Governors University. She has been a registered nurse for over seven years and has been working in healthcare for 14 years. She is certified in case management and finds fulfillment in working with other members of the team to secure continuity of care. She values her role in helping patients get the best care possible throughout their recovery period.
Human Resources Director
Andrew comes to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia with more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field, both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, specifically in manufacturing and biomedical research. Originally from the UK, Andrew has lived and worked in the Northern Virginia area since 2004, and also has experience of working in Germany, Austria, China and Canada. He speaks German and French, and obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in german studies.
Director of Therapy Operations
Amber has worked in healthcare for more than 20 years with the majority of that time spent in a leadership capacity. She previously served as clinic coordinator of inpatient rehabilitation at Reston Hospital and director of rehabilitation medicine at Stone Springs Hospital Center. In addition to her traditional responsibilities, Amber also served as the director of PBX, interim director of radiology, had oversight of construction projects and corporate-mandated initiatives and participated in various community events. Amber earned her master's degree in physical therapy (MSPT) from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, and she is currently earning her master's degree in health administration through Utica College.
Director of Quality & Risk
Jill joined Encompass Health in May 2020. She has been a registered nurse for 25 years. Her 12 years in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and Navy Nurse Corps Officer has provided her with a substantial clinical background. Her love for teaching and giving back to the nursing profession contributed to 10 years in academics. She has a master's degree in nursing education and is currently working on a master's degree in healthcare administration at George Mason University.
Chief Nursing Officer
Omar joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia in 2015 as a nurse supervisor and was promoted into the role of chief nursing officer in July 2022. In his new role, Omar’s daily focus is to ensure that all patients receive outstanding nursing care and have a positive experience in the interactions with our staff throughout their stay. Omar holds a master’s degree in nursing and is both a family nurse practitioner as well as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse.
Director Health Information Management
Gabe joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia in May of 2012 as a rehab therapy tech. In 2016, he transitioned to the role of supervisor of health information management after receiving a master’s degree in health informatics administration. In 2018, he obtained an RHIA certification and in 2019, transitioned to the role of director of health information management and hospital HIPAA officer where he is responsible for the privacy and security of protected health information. Gabe also serves as the President of the District of Columbia Health Information Management Association (DCHIMA) where he helps to serve HIM professional in the DMV area.
Facilities Management Director
Jonathan joined Encompass Health as the facilities management director in August 2021. He has worked in facilities management and maintenance for more than 29 years. Jonathan received his facility management education through George Mason and earned his CFM and FMP through the International Facilities Management Association.
Director of Pharmacy
