Michelle has been the chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill since January 2024. She joined Encompass Health in 2022 and started in Montgomery, Alabama. Michelle brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience, with over 15 years of hospital management and leadership. Prior to transitioning to Encompass Health, Michelle was the chief executive officer at Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Michelle is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Michelle earned her master's degree in occupational therapy and her bachelor's degree in general studies, with a minor in psychology from Misericordia University.

Dr. Shiranee Jayasooriya is the medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill. She graduated from medical school in Sri Lanka and received her postgraduate board certification in medicine in England and board certification in psychiatry in Australia. She attended the University of Texas Houston completing a residency in anesthesiology and then her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to coming to Encompass Health Rock Hill, Dr. Jayasooriya served as medical director at Encompass Health Desert Canyon practiced in Las Vegas, Nevada. While there, she contributed to the start of the first Joint Commission-certified oncology rehabilitation program in the country. Her interests include writing and composing music.

Dr. Jayasooriya is an independent private practice physician.

Daniel brings more than 30 years of pharmacy experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill. After receiving his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island, Daniel spent the majority of his career in hospital pharmacy. He also received his certificate as a pain management specialty pharmacist in 2019.

Kiona brings 20 years of healthcare experience to Encompass Health. As a human resources director, she is a results-focused leader who delivers talent acquisition, retention and motivation solutions that assist companies in harnessing the full power of one of their most valuable assets – their people. Kiona has dedicated her career to creating robust cultures that promote continuous business growth and cultivate customer loyalty by empowering and motivating employees to realize their full potential and bring their best to the job. She received a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from South University.

Karen brings more than 35 years of healthcare experience to Encompass Health. As an accomplished financial executive, she has demonstrated success implementing sound financial practices and internal controls to improve business performance for healthcare organizations. Her background includes acute care, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, skilled nursing home, home health and county health departments. Karen earned her associate's degree in business administration from Paul Smith’s College, a bachelor's degree in business administration from SUNY Plattsburg, and her master's degree in business administration from The University of Phoenix.

Kayla brings more than 10 years of healthcare experience to Encompass Health. A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, she has worked in this community in various healthcare roles throughout her career. Kayla is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN), is certified in infection control and has a Lean Six Sigma Belt. She excels in leveraging her education, leadership acumen and clinical skillset to provide guidance for this facility. Kayla received her associate degree in nursing from York Technical College, bachelor's degree in nursing and master's degree in healthcare administration from Grand Canyon University and an additional master's degree in nursing with a specialty in infection prevention and control from American Sentinel University.

Chimetchia brings more than 17 years of clinical and healthcare management expertise to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill. A native of South Carolina, she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in respiratory care. She received her master's degree in business administration and health administration (MBA-MHA) from South University-Columbia.

Katie has been with Encompass Health for 10 years, previously working at our hospital in Columbia, South Carolina before transitioning to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill to accept the therapy manager position. From there, she expanded her role and is serving currently as the director of therapy operations. She earned her master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of Florida and has specialized in neurological rehabilitation during her time as an occupational therapist. She is trained in NDT and teaches HemiMove® throughout the company for our Clinical Excellence University continuing education courses.
