Hospital happenings

Jacob Rose

Jacob Rose was working full time and majoring in business at a local university when he was involved in a severe motor vehicle accident and suffered a spinal fracture that left him unable to move his legs. After an ICU stay and an 11-day hospitalization, he was transferred to the spinal cord injury program at Encompass Health Cincinnati. When he arrived at Encompass Health, he required moderate assistance for wheelchair transfers and needed help bathing and dressing.

After three weeks, he was starting to regain feeling back in his feet and toes, and was able to dress and transfer himself independently to his wheelchair. He ecstatically rang the independence bell on discharge day, and wheeled out to his bright future ahead!
