Hospital Happenings

During the month of May, we celebrate Better Hearing and Speech Month. At Encompass Health Rehabilitation of Miami, we recognize our speech therapists who treat individuals with voice, cognitive, language, hearing and speech disorders, as well as swallowing impairments.

Pictured here is Steven and his speech therapist, Monica. Steven suffered a stroke in March and is participating in our dysphagia dining program. Monica is applying technology to help contract and strengthen the tongue and throat muscles. These techniques promote safe swallowing strategies in order to help improve the individual’s quality of life.
