Hospital Happenings

Steve Barlotta

Steve Barlotta is a New Jersey musician who plays saxophone in his longtime group. After battling COVID-19 for 37 days, Steve was discharged to Encompass Health Tinton Falls to begin rehabilitation to regain strength. Steve had two main goals for rehabilitation: to play again and be strong enough to walk out unassisted. During his stay, he also was an active participant in the Encompass Health virtual COVID-19 support group, providing key insights to other patients. Almost three months after contracting COVID-19, Steve completed his first goal—he played the saxophone again, his therapy team as his audience. Soon after, he achieved his other goal of walking out of rehabilitation into the arms of his family he had not seen in months.  We are so proud of the progress Steve has made and hope he can bring his musical talent to crowds again soon.
