CEO
Alisha joined Encompass Health of Toms River in 2021 as the chief nursing officer and brings more than 13 years of leadership experience. While in the CNO role, Alisha was also enrolled in the CEO development program. A Pennsylvania native, she began her nursing career in 2003 and has held a variety of nursing and operations leadership roles including clinical nurse director, director of quality, director of finance operations and labor management and chief nursing officer. Alisha earned her master’s degree in nursing leadership from Walden University, is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse, and is Board Certified as a nurse executive.
Medical Director
Dr. Padma Adusumilli serves as medical director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River a position she assumed in December 2017. Before moving into the role of medical director, Adusumilli who is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, served as a staff physician at the inpatient rehabilitation hospital since 2008. In addition, she previously served at Encompass Health's sister hospital in Tinton Falls from 2002-2008. Altogether, she has more than 25 years’ experience in inpatient rehabilitation. After graduating from Kilpauk Medical College, she completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Adusumilli is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Case Management
Julie has been with Encompass Health and was promoted to her current position in 1999. She holds an associate’s degree in nursing from the College of Staten Island in New York. Julie has more than 25 years in health care experience.
Director of Quality & Risk
Jessica joined the Encompass Health Toms River team in 2009 as a physical therapist. She achieved her board-certified specialist certification in neurologic physical therapy in 2015. During her tenure with Encompass Health, Jessica has served as the physical therapy department’s center coordinator of clinical education and the Hospital Clinical Educator. She holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University.
Director of Pharmacy
Brian is a graduate of the University Of Rhode Island College Of Pharmacy. He began his employment with Encompass Health in August of 1998 as the director of pharmacy. After stepping aside as the director of pharmacy in 2000, Brian expanded his professional background through a number of employment opportunities. Brian returned as the director of pharmacy in 2007. He brought with him experience in sales, sterile compounding and retail pharmacy. In 2009 Brian was asked to be the regional director of pharmacy for the Northeast Region.
Director of Therapy Operations
James Juliano leads Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River’s physical, occupational and speech-language pathology therapy services. James has been a member of the Encompass Health Toms River team since 2023, after previously serving 12 years at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls in various levels of leadership, including director of therapy operations. James’ clinical expertise lies in the realms of neurologic rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, wound care and rehabilitation of the geriatric population. The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties of the American Physical Therapy Association awarded James the designation of Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in geriatric physical therapy in 2017. James has also earned specialty certification in wound care from the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy and is a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults through the APTA Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy. James graduated from the University of Miami with a doctorate degree in physical therapy in 2011 and a Bachelor’s of Health Science degree in 2007.
Facilities Management Director
Brian joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River in August 2011 and brings a wide array of talents and knowledge to his role. He began his decades-long career as an electrician completing his NJ state apprenticeship certification. Staying with contemporary trends, he switched to the information technology field. After earning an associate degree in mathematics, he gained employment with Verizon Telecommunications. Before attaining the facilities management director position, he was the information systems specialist for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River.
Human Resources Director
Lori has held a variety of professional and leadership positions at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River since 1995. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Seton Hall University and achieved the designation of Professional in Human Resources (PHR) in 2008. In addition, Lori is licensed in the state of New Jersey as a rehabilitation counselor (LRC) and is certified as a case manager (CCM). Lori is an active member of the community, advocating for individuals with disabilities. She previously served as the treasurer for the New Jersey Statewide Independent Living Council.
Controller
Janet joined Encompass Health in October 2011, bringing with her more than 35 years of demonstrated success in the areas of overall healthcare financial operations. Previously, she was the chief financial officer of a Southern NJ acute rehabilitation hospital and in the past has served in various managerial roles in several Northern NJ acute care hospitals, as well as healthcare financial consulting roles with various NJ firms. Janet received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montclair State University and her master'ss in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Business Development Director
Brittany began her career at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River in 2014. With a background in digital advertising at a national technology company, she brings strategic expertise and innovative marketing strategies to her role. Brittany was formerly the hospital’s director of quality & risk management. She earned her master’s degree in business administration from Georgian Court University following her bachelor’s degree in communication with concentrations in public relations and journalism from Monmouth University. Brittany is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality accredited by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. She is actively involved in the local healthcare community and serves as a member on several healthcare boards including American Heart Association’s Garden State Executive Leadership Team.
