At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Treasure Coast, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Vero Beach, we serve the Treasure Coast as a leading provider of inpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

MICHAEL KISSNER

Chief Executive Officer

Mike joined the Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth team in May 2014 and brings twenty-five years of executive healthcare experience to the Treasure Coast.

Mike joined the Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth team in May 2014 and brings twenty-five years of executive healthcare experience to the Treasure Coast. He graduated from Florida State University receiving his degree in business administration and then earned a master’s of business administration through Florida Institute of Technology. Having held executive level positions in physician practice management, disease management, hospitalist, and acute care hospital systems, Mike brings a broad knowledge and a unique perspective of health care delivery systems. Mike also has familiarity with and appreciation for Vero Beach and Indian River County where he and his wife, Norma lived and raised two sons, Michael and Matt.

Dr. Jimmy Lockhart is the chief medical officer and medical director at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Jimmy Lockhart is the chief medical officer and medical director at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. A graduate of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Lockhart completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Susie graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy. An experienced manager and clinician, she has worked in acute inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, acute care hospitals, outpatient services and in a skilled nursing facility. Susie specializes in rehabilitation services and has a passion for education.

Chief Financial Officer

Kevin serves as the chief financial officer for Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital.

Kevin serves as the chief financial officer for Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. He has more than 23 years of progressive financial and administrative experience ranging from large, for-profit medical-surgical and specialty hospitals, to both large and small nonprofit community health systems where he was responsible for all the financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and facility operational management reporting and control. While at Encompass Health Treasure Coast, Kevin has held the positions of controller, regional controller and, briefly, was responsible for the operational duties as interim administrator. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Lisa joined Encompass Health Treasure Coast, formerly HealthSouth, in October, 2007 as a licensed practical nurse with both acute care and rehabilitation background.

Lisa joined Encompass Health Treasure Coast, formerly HealthSouth, in October, 2007 as a licensed practical nurse with both acute care and rehabilitation background. Lisa is a long time resident of Vero Beach and a local graduate of Indian River State College where she earned her associate degree in nursing. She is a certified rehabilitation registered nurse and completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in nursing leadership from Western Governors University.

Pam serves as an area director of business development overseeing all aspects of marketing and admission operations.
Pam serves as an area director of business development overseeing all aspects of marketing and admission operations. She has worked for Encompass Health for 11 years. Prior to joining the Vero Beach team, she spent five years as the director of marketing in Ocala receiving Encompass Health’s marketing team of the year award for the southeast region in 2015. Pam also worked five years as a senior rehabilitation nurse liaison in Brooksville, Fla. and served as the area director of marketing operations in Tennessee and Virginia where she also received marketing team of the year recognition in 2017. She received employee of the quarter from Encompass Health Spring Hill where she also established and maintained a stroke support group of more than 30 members. She has more than 21 years’ experience in sales and marketing and 13 years of experience in nursing.

Mary-Jean's nursing career started in psychiatric nursing at Ellis Hospital.

Mary-Jean grew up on a dairy farm in Cooperstown, NY. She attended Cooperstown Central School and completed her RN training at Ellis Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor degree from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and a master's degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Mary-Jean's nursing career started in psychiatric nursing at Ellis Hospital. After moving to Arizona, she was employed as a corporate nurse before joining Good Samaritan Medical Center in outpatient, acute hemodialysis, renal/transplant. She has also served as the Director of Quality Management for Kindred Hospital in Ontario, Calif.

Linda Rinehart is the human resources director of Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. Linda brings over 30 years of experience in executive level human resource management. Her recent experience includes eight years of experience in a regional human resources position. She also has experience with other industries including a healthcare not-for-profit and various positions for a Fortune 500 Insurance Company. Linda attended Queens College, where she obtained her B.S. in business administration.

Donald Watts joined the Encompass Health team in May 2015.

Donald Watts joined the Encompass Health team in May 2015. Donald brings more than 20 years of facilities and safety experience to the Treasure Coast hospital with the last twelve years in a director’s position. He studied business management at Sullivan college in Kentucky and is a veteran of the United States Navy with multiple sea deployments on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation CV-64. After getting out of the US military in 1999 he started his career in healthcare.
