Chief Executive Officer
Eric joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital in 2014 as chief executive officer. Prior to coming to Augusta, Ga., he held the regional director of therapy operations position for Encompass Health’s Southeast region, while also serving as the director of therapy operations at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Emerald Coast in Panama City, Fla. Eric has proven experience in the healthcare industry since 1999 that include both leadership and clinical positions within inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient settings. Eric graduated with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Tuskegee University and holds a master's degree in healthcare administration from Austin Peay State University.
Dr. Pamela B. Salazar received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a clinical fellowship in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albert Einstein University. Her practice is focused on inpatient and outpatient services with an emphasis on neuro-rehabilitation. When not at work Dr. Salazar enjoys gardening, cooking and music.
Dr. Salazar is an independent private practice physician.
Paula started her career in healthcare 12 years ago working as a nurse for Encompass Health in Henderson, Nevada. In addition to nursing, Paula also obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in healthcare law. Her most recent hospital experience was as the director of risk management for Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, overseeing multiple facilities and support services as well as leading a number of operations projects. Paula loves to learn and spends much of her free time outdoors rain or shine.
Chief Nursing Officer
Megan joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, in August 2015. She has held positions as staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse supervisor and nurse manager during her tenure at Walton. Megan completed her specialty certification within rehabilitation nursing in December 2016. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Megan also holds her master’s degree in nursing through the clinical nurse leadership program at Augusta University.
Director of Therapy Operations
Katie joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital as the director of therapy operations in July 2021. She has served in both direct patient care and leadership roles for both inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient therapy. Katie is a regional trainer for safe patient mobility with the South Atlantic STOP team. Prior to coming to Augusta, Katie held positions as a staff physical therapist, physical therapy team lead and therapy manager at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Panama City. She graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in health science from the University of Florida where she remained to complete her doctorate in physical therapy. When not at work, Katie enjoys horseback riding, traveling, cooking and dining out with family and friends.
Associate Medical Director
Dr. Hussain received her medical degree from Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio and completed her internship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. She fulfilled her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she served as chief resident during her training. Her interests include neuro-rehabilitation and spasticity management. Dr. Hussain is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
Dr. Hussain is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Quality & Risk
Ellen joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health in June 2002. During her tenure at Encompass Health of Walton, she has held several administrative positions including case manager, appeals specialist and quality coordinator. Ellen earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina State University and her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Augusta University.
Business Development Director
Courtney joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health in 2020. She has a demonstrated proven history of success in healthcare with various leadership roles in development and growth of acute care, post-acute care, and home based care over the past 15 years. Courtney is also a nurse and brings a strong clinical background to the team. Originally from Greenville South Carolina, she now resides in Evans, Georgia and loves spending her free time on the lake with family.
Human Resources Director
Terrie Richardson joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health in 2015 as the director of human resources. She has more than 14 years experience in human resource management, 10 of those years in healthcare. She is a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management and a member of the Augusta Area Hospital Personnel Association. She enjoys traveling with her family and college football.
Director of Case Management
Christi joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital as the director of case management in November 2022. She has more than 18 years of experience in both clinical and leadership positions within acute care, home health, hospice and inpatient rehabilitation. Christi earned an associate degree in nursing from Piedmont Technical College in 2004 and later went on to complete a bachelor's degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2015. She completed her specialty certification within rehabilitation nursing in 2009. Christi is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching college football.
Facilities Management Director
Patrick joined Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health in 2022 after serving in a vital role in plant operations at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Treasure Coast located in Vero Beach, Florida. Patrick has been with Encompass Health for six years serving in many roles within plant operations. Before his career with Encompass Health, he was a licensed plumber for 17 years. Patrick served with the United Stated Army for four years starting in 1993. In his free time, Patrick enjoys spending time with friends and family, working on small engines and tinkering on his computer.
Diane joined the Encompass Health team in 2014 and is responsible for the overall financial management of the hospital. Diane has over 25 years of experience in financial leadership positions within the healthcare industry. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Toledo. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) with licensure in both Georgia and Ohio. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of CPAs. When not at work, she enjoys the outdoors.
