Sept. 11, 2023 - Dorothy “Dodi” Purtell has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Fitchburg. The hospital is a 56-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital under construction at 5535 Nobel Dive in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and is expected to begin caring for patients in November 2023.
Purtell will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Fitchburg hospital, as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries, including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and complex orthopedic conditions.
“As a licensed occupational therapist, Dodi brings more than two decades of healthcare experience to her new role of CEO, and I am honored to welcome her to our team,” said Troy DeDecker, president of Encompass Health’s Central region. “She is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, and I am confident in her vision for the hospital.”
Prior to joining Encompass Health, Purtell served as director of therapy and case management at UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, she oversaw therapy and case management operations in the hospital and led the hospital to achieve accreditation in stroke and amputation.
Purtell obtained her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Wisconsin and her master’s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix.
